JIMMY'S FARM BUTTERFLY HOUSE AND GARDENS
JIMMY'S FARM BUTTERFLY HOUSE AND GARDENS

The Butterfly House is now open for Summer 2011!!

Butterflies are Jimmy's specialist subject. Part of his dream has been to create a haven for indigenous and tropical butterflies at Jimmy's Farm.

Aimed at all ages, the Butterfly House is designed to transport visitors to another world where butterflies flutter gracefully around a tropical paradise.

The Butterfly House offers the British public an incredible chance to see rare and imported species from as far a field as Asia and South America. Visitors can also observe their life cycle up-close in this new addition to Jimmy’s Farm.

Outside a Butterfly Garden is being created to encourage native butterflies to live and breed whilst visitors enjoy the peaceful oasis.

“We've been hard at work this year, creating a wonderful tropical jungle, full of beautiful butterflies, birds, fish and insects. I cannot wait for the public to come and explore our fantastic Butterfly House and gardens.” Jimmy Doherty

The Butterfly House is located on our Nature Trail:
Entrance to the Nature Trail (including the Butterfly House) is: Children £3.50, Adults £4.50, Concessions £4.00, Family £15.00.

Did you know: Butterfly is an insect of the order Lepidoptera. Like all Lepidoptera, butterflies are notable for their unusual life cycle with a larval caterpillar stage, an inactive pupal stage, and a spectacular metamorphosis into a familiar and colourful winged adult form. Most species are day-flying so they regularly attract attention. The diverse patterns formed by their brightly coloured wings and their erratic yet graceful flight have made butterfly watching a fairly popular hobby. Source: Wikipedia
